Doomsday vault at Arctic fails to escape climate change and gets flooded

The Global Seed Vault, also popularly known as the Doomsday Vault, which has been specifically built to secure a million packets of the world's most precious seeds from all natural and man-made calamities, was flooded by melting ice from Arctic.

Buried under a deep mountain the Arctic Circle and situated in the Arctic Svalbard archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole, the vault is a lifeline for humanity if any catastrophe hits Earth. But climate change reaction has been so strong that parts of the facility near its entrance have been flooded by melting permafrost.

No seed deposit has been harmed due to the recent flooding as water did not reach the inner chambers of the vault and seeds have been kept in moisture control packets. Scientists however, say they never envisaged this would happen, that too so quickly.

"It was not in our plans to think that the permafrost would not be there and that it would experience extreme weather like that," Hege Njaa Aschim, from the Norwegian government, which owns the vault and is responsible for its maintenance, told the Guardian. "The water ran into the start of the vault's tunnel, then froze - it was like a glacier when you went in," he added.

The ice has been chipped out, but the vault is now being monitored more closely.

Cary Fowler, who helped create the seed vault, said flooding would not be the right term to use as melting ice in summers always results in permafrost melts. Because the seed vault is uphill from the entrance it would take much, much more water to overwhelm the seeds but the large amount of meltwater this season was unexpected.

"There's been water intrusion at the front of the tunnel every single year," Fowler told Popular Science. "But they need to study where the water is coming in and the amounts to figure out what the situation is....This whole planet is warming, and that includes Svalbard."

The problem with human scientific hubris is that it tends to be overconfident in itself, particularly in predicting the future of this planet.
I read another story about how the famous scientist Steven Hawkins was prognosticating that humans don't have more than 100 years to live on this earth. When these scientists make these claims, they are really being haughty.
Nobody has been able to give an accurate account of how humans came to be on this earth. Conventional science theorizes evolution -that we evolved from sea creatures over millions of years. And then they show ancient pictures of hominids ranging from the Australopithecus to the Homo hominids. Usually they paint a direct picture and hope that no one notices the rest of the other facts that debunk these claims. For example, many humanoid creatures, some of them looking totally different from any scientifically recognized species have been dug up and circulating the internet, but these scientists ignore them because they fall outside of the "mainstream" science community narrative of the evolution and origin of man on this planet called earth.

The safest bet for humans as far as the future is concerned is that man must love one another as self, and give reverence (even if they hate him) to the creator of this earth who has kept space rocks and other celestial dangers away from this earth.

All these attempt to "secure the future" is nothing short of a fool's gold - a totally doomed enterprise. If we do not love one another, the maker and owner of this earth will allow one or two of these hovering space rocks to show us who is the boss, and no tunnel can save any human on that day!
