While a lot of blogs and some scientific discoveries will tell you that your dating standards will reduce as you get older, I beg to differ. Often, I hear comments chiding those who have high standards for men they will let into their lives, telling them if they do not accept the available option, they may never get married again.

Sadly, a lot of us fall victim to this and readily lower our expectations so much because of societal pressure. So, what is the worst that would happen if you do not lower your standards? You may end up unmarried and alone. On the other hand, you may end up eventually with someone who will treat you with the respect you deserve and you will be thankful you didn’t settle.

The fact that you have high standards does not mean you are completely closed off to the world or you thrive on a perfect partner. No! On the contrary, it means that anyone who isn’t worth the effort is not allowed in. It means that you respect yourself well enough to know whether the person will treat you right.

If society demands you lower your standards, don’t you dare! It is better to be single than to settle with just about anyone and live a life of ‘what-ifs’ and regrets.
