Fast track your miracle with fasting

When God visits, definitely there will be a positive turn around. When he visits, delays, fruitless efforts are wiped out. What follows is a new song.

Peter had toiled all day and was leaving frustrated when he met the Lord Jesus who told him to cast his net into the sea again and this time,Peter caught so many fishes that his net got to breaking point.

Brethren, our God is still the same.    What is that challenge that has won’t go? Is it a health challenge, it is financial? Is the slow pace of the economy affecting your business or finances, have you just lost a job? Do you still believe God for the fruits of the womb? Are you waiting for a marriage partner? Whatever, the challenge is, our God has the capacity to give a divine turn around.

Don’t give up, be reassured that God is not through with you.

With the experience of many people, it would appear that that nothing is happening even when they have spent hours and days praying and getting engaged in all religious activities.

Be assured that the time of waiting is not a wasted time.

As we discussed last week, we have our own responsibilities. There are numerous steps that we must take in faith to achieve our desired miracles.

As recorded in Matthew 17 vs 15 to 21, a man who son had a lunatic spirit wanted his son healed, he took the child to the disiciples but they were unable to case out the evil    spirit.

Then he turned to the Lord Jesus who told the disciples ( Matthew 17vs 21 “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting”.

The comments of our Lord Jesus puts us on notice that challenges differ and some are stubborn . The good news however is that God is greater than any challenge.

Why must we fast?

Fasting as stated by our Lord Jesus is a fast track to remove stubborn  challenges. Modern Christians in our society now believe fasting is outdated. It is not . What is fasting? It is simply put self-denial. It is a spiritual exercise that puts the flesh under control. It lifts us up spiritually.    It is a time of sober reflection. More importantly, we must find time to meditate on the word.

However, Abstinence from food and water without time for prayer is no fasting. One must find time to pray. It must however not be viewed as a strategy for obtaining a miracle by force.

Of course, faith is crucial. The one who fasts must also have faith that God is able to turn things around. He or She must have total confidence in God.

Let me share with you the sermon of Pastor Bisi Olowoyo of RCCG. He said fasting is the key to Spiritual treasures. More importantly, believers are reminded that fasting helps us to maintain a close relationship with God.

A good Christian should not live a life that is devoid of fasting.

Matthew 9 vs 14    and 15 ; “Then came to him the disciplines of John saying, why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?”

Jesus replied in vs 15 “ And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as lone as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast”.

Note that Jesus said at time will come when his disciples will fast.

How should we fast ?  Matthew 6 vs 16 -18 tells us how. “Morover when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for    they disfigure their faces, that they may appear    unto men to fast. Verily , I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;”

Our emphasis on verse 18 “ That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father , which is in secret; and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly”.

We are assured that there will be testimony after fasting.A testimony is an open reward.Testimony is a reward one that makes people to congratulate you.It makes others in your position to use you as a point of contact to seek God’s favour.

Fasting makes things turn around in your favour.

A believer does not need to wait until the Pastor declares some days of fasting. One can choose a particular day or days to fast. It certainly moves us close to God.

I’ll share the experience of a couple that had been waiting for children for over 20 years. The husband told this story at Laughter Foundation.

In their desperate search for children, he visited an herbalist who told him that he ( herbalist ) could not help him but only God can.

The man then decided to fast and pray . After the prayer, he returned to his village to see some relations.

After the usual greeting, one of those  he had identified as the source of his problems, confronted him and asked if he had come    to fight.

Of course, the he replied in the negative. What is important here is that this wicked relation had seen that this man has been Spiritually lifted up.    The good news is that it was not too long after this, that the man and his wife had a breakthrough.    Today, after 25 years of waiting, they are parents of a set of twins; a boy and a girl.

Fasting humbles us.      Isaiah 66 vs 2    “ For all those things hath mine hand made, and those things have been saith the Lord: but to this man will I look even to him that is poor    and of a contrite spirit , and trembleth at my word”.

This is a further assurance God appreciates fasting. Are you about to take a  major decision?Have you opted to have an IVF ?

I admonish you to  take some time to fast and pray that God opens your eyes .

When God opens your eyes, you will see beyond the ordinary but the one who eyes are opened must be ready to obey God fully. The Holy Bible tells us emphatically that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow.

Brethren take a further step in faith and the Lord Jesus will visit you. Be expectant, God will surprise you before this year ends in Jesus name.
