The 21st century woman and social media validation.

Welcome to the 21st century, where worth is placed on like buttons and heart emoticons. Where validation comes from a number of followers and online admirers that do not know the most basic things about us.
Although, the age of social media comes with a lot of advantages for women, such as giving them a platform to voice out their thoughts, access to information that has changed their perspectives on things as well as a place to simply be.
But like everything else in life, these advantages are accompanied by disadvantages. The high emphasis of self-worth on likes and followers have become a leading problem to the self-esteem of many women.
A lot of women have their lives revolving around social media that they fail to actually pay attention to their real lives; this has caused women trying to change themselves for societal beauty standards to their own detriment.
Social media is a great tool when used well, but you have to understand that your worth is not based on the opinion of strangers in the digital world. You matter too and not all that glitters on social media is actually gold.
Find your authentic self and hold it tight. At the end of the day, it is all you have.

I agree with the article. Female individuals who don't have self confidence or esteem looks to facebook likes for support instead of actually dealing with issues they are facing.
