Has The Braless Fashion Trend Come To Stay?

The traditional Nigerian woman is believed to be modest in her appearance as well as her manners .
However , in this present day where most women are becoming feminist and demanding equal rights in all spheres , they believe they have the right to do as they please with and to their bodies.
The current fashion trend of going braless, which isn ’t so new to the western world , is now being embraced and adopted by our Nigerian women . Nigerian women , amongst many other reasons , say they do this because they have the right to their bodies and no one has the right to tell them what to do.

When asked why they go out braless , most say it’s because bras are usually uncomfortable for them . Some say it’ s because some outfits don’t look good with bras . Some say they have really small breasts and wearing a bra makes no difference . Others say they just love the freedom that comes with going braless.
We all agree that everyone has a right to decide what to do with their own bodies. However , most Nigerians still consider that as indecent and provocative dressing and believe women should still appear modestly dressed amidst all trends and styles .
The popular saying of “ dress how you want to be addressed ” would apply here for the Nigerian woman . Dress to suit the occasion . Dress formally when necessary and dress casually when appropriate .
Has this trend come to stay ? Are we ready for this ?

Unfortunately,I will say yes!... Nigerian ladies are gradually copying the western style of braless outfits. I wonder what the fashion situation will be in 10 years time. :w

Bra, is like the rest of the clothes that humans have learnt to adopt and wear over the many years.

It is really a badge of our disobedience -something that reminds us that we did something in the past against the advice of our maker.
Something that reminds us of our loss of innocence.

Bra, like other clothes intended to "shape" human appearance to suit other people's perception of oneself, is a prison of sorts.

Ever wonder how different this world would look and feel if somehow we stopped imagining the most amorous things when we see others' nakedness?

I have, and the perception I got was a world that "struggled" less and carried less baggages about.

It also changed values, somehow in a liberating way. I believe that the measure one uses to judge others is the measure by which he or she will be judged.

I often look at clothes with some suspicion. Always have.

The only time I give it a break is when I see them as utilitarian; i.e. a material that has a specific physical use that provides a physical (not mental or psychological ) solution to a physical problem; in this case, a protection against the elements of nature, weather: cold, heat, bugs, sun rays, rain and other natural water splashing; etc.

Therefore, in that line of thought, I see bra as a utilitarian product that holds a woman's breast in place while she runs, or does some farm work, etc, NOT something to shield it from men's eyes.
As far as I'm concerned, men should go and recollect their innocence where they left it. Their lack of innocence should not create a burden for women.
Wearing a bra is very inconveniencing if you have ever imagined it. Therefore I would understand if a woman rebelled against wearing it; afterall it shouldn't even have existed in the first place had humans obeyed their maker.

So, I suspect that humans are gradually going back to where they should have been.
