Second Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has advised politicians of Igbo extraction to desist from issuing threats to the rest of Nigerians with regard to the 2023 presidential election.

He gave the advice in a press statement on Sunday evening, noting that threat as reflected in the views ascribed to Dr. Chukwuemeka Eziefe was not the right approach to achieve a presidential ambition for the zone in a multi-dimensional country such as Nigeria.

Alhaji Yakasai who maintained that he had been an ardent supporter of a Nigerian president from the South East based on his stand on equity and justice to all the regions and tribes, however, noted that this ambition could only be achieved in a democratic setting through persuasion rather than threats and black mail.

“Dr. Eziefe as an elder by right and a former elected governor of the most populous state with more enlightened and advanced people in the entire South East geopolitical zone, a retired and seasoned civil servant of note should be above this kind of rhetoric,” he reasoned.

“Dr. Eziefe is undoubtedly aware that the people of the South East are the major beneficiaries of the 200 million people market that made up of today’s Nigeria.

“No other ethnic group in the rest of our country is in competition with the south-easterners in the field of commerce and industry today, and this is likely to be the case in the foreseeable future,” he predicted.

“For anyone to be thinking of any situation that will lead to the pulling out of the outheast people from this huge market is without any doubt, making a wrong calculation,” he declared.

Firstly, the truth is that no Igbo has ever threatened Nigeria, except to say that they want to leave the Nigerian union. I used the term "union" deliberately to refresh us of a far more powerful country with "Union" in its name which is now defunct. If secession from Nigeria is a threat, it means that Nigeria is "an open air concentration camp" according to Seun Anikulapo Kuti. It also means that the Yakassais are the owners and beneficiaries of that concentration camp.

The Igbo want to leave Nigeria, and there is a JUST AND FAIR reason for it.

If I start to reel out the reasons, I would need to write a very thick book on it, so let me not waste time there.

What I would say is that if Nigeria had been good to the Igbo and her neighbours, the very nature of the Igbo would have naturally found rest in Nigeria.  The Igbo would have NEVER spoken about secession. But things are so bad that even Igbo resident in other parts of Nigeria would vote for secession today even if they lose their trillions of assets as a result. They want a just, peaceful and civilized country to call home, and Nigeria is far from that!

I was reading somewhere that the minister of aviation Mr Sirika promises to make the Enugu international airport the same class as the Abuja international airport, and I started to wonder why this has not been done before now.
The Igbo that I know would have NEVER considered secession if Nigeria had delivered even 10% of her promise.
But Nigeria did none of that, and the last straw that broke the camels back is that Fulani herdsmen killed a pregnant woman in Igboland in her own farm. THAT IS AN ABOMINATION and DESECRATION of Igboland.

Yakassai talks about the Igbo scattered in all parts of Nigeria as if they went there by choice.
They went there because their region was oppressed and deprived of the most basic infrastructure.
They went there in search of opportunity.
If their region were to have the necessary infrastructure, those Igbo would rather be home in their own region than scatter everywhere.
It is like a thief came to your house, killed your parents, take over their land, and forced you to flee to settle elsewhere. Then, later the same thief comes to tell you that because you thrived in your new settlement, that he did you a favour! What type of wicked talk is that?

So, Mr Yakassai should know that the Igbo don't see Nigeria as "huge market"; rather the Igbo see Nigeria as a huge killing field ruled by satanic people.

If the Igbo loses the Nigerian market, they still have the rest of the world market, because they are in almost all countries of the world, already.

If the Igbo form a new country today, that new country can be sustained for ever just by the money sent home by the Igbo outside Nigeria. This is how God blesses the just. Bible says that the righteous shall live by faith.
The Igbo have not oppressed anyone in Nigeria, or anywhere for that matter.
So, God continues to bless them and make them heads and not tails.
Without the Igbo, Nigeria is finished.  And no, it is not a threat; it s a simple statement of fact.
