The government is taking necessary steps to promote the peaceful co-existence of herdsmen and farmers, by focusing on boosting security and enforcing legislation that will guarantee herders and farmers access to land;
This is a long term strategy not a short term solution to the DAILY MURDER going on in the middle belt of Nigeria.To even call this a land issue is a little misleading because we've always had herdsmen in Nigeria in all these years. They never started killing their host communities, until now. Question is did they suddenly realize that they need land for grazing, or did they somehow spontaneously acquire the impetus to implement a long conceived plan to take over others' land in Nigeria?The killing must stop today, else the long term plans would only meet a raging civil war. The long term plans should only meet a speedily implemented security program which if honestly approached would begin by disarming and jailing of killer herdsmen. This is an honest assessment of the situation.
