The Kaduna state governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has urged “foreign powers” who may have been engaged by some politicians to interfere with the Nigerian general elections to jettison the idea because, “they would go back in body bags.”



Governor El-Rufai made the statement while speaking during an NTA Live programme on Tuesday evening.

He was reacting to the recent statements by United States, European Union and the United Kingdom who showed doubts, saying the coming elections in Nigeria may not be credible. They accused the executive arm of the Nigerian government of undermining the democratic tenets and principle of separation of powers, citing the recent suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

But, disagreeing with them, the governor, who said Nigeria is an independent country, also added that nobody would come to Nigeria and tell her what to do or how to run her affairs.

According to the governor, “Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags.”

“Nobody will come to Nigeria and tell us how to run our country. We have got our independence and we are trying to run our country as decently as possible and we know the history of those countries that are trying to teach us.

“We know their history, we also know their own stages of development and they went through these challenges. So, please, let us work together, let us challenge one another, but don’t lecture us.”

So, because these countries pointed out the constitutional violations by the Buhari regime, suddenly they are now Nigeria's enemy?
In Phyno's voice "oh no no no no no no no no no no no no no no!". 

But on a serious note, a wise Igbo proverb says that "Nza the bird, after overfeeding has decided to challenge his own god to a wrestling match!". Haha. 

El rufai's rant is funny on many levels, but let me not say much because all of us Nigerians are not El rufai.

Majority of us still believe that the Nigerian constitution should be respected by Buhari, and majority of us still see these countries as friends instead of foes, particularly when they speak up to condemn nascent despotism, fascism and other evils in Nigeria.

And yes, if Nigeria descends into a brutal civil war as the El rufais seem to be mindlessly pushing the country, these same countries will play leading roles in it, one way or another. FACT.

So, El rufai should rather face his imminent electoral defeat and stop chasing shadows.

The "enemy" that the El rufais have are NIGERIANS WHO ARE ANGRY THAT THE APC HAS FAILED TO DELIVER.
They will meet El rufai at the polls on the 16th.

BTW let El rufai not dream of rigging this elections because then he would face both Nigerians and these same countries. There will be no hiding place for him. lol

El-Ruffai should be careful of his utterances.

What people like El Rufai don't seem to understand is that "war" is beyond dibias, babalawos - herbalists (like Nollywood movies)... It involves so much more. And countries like US and the United Kingdom won't bow to threats from a country like ours. Recently, we bought some ammunitions from the US - they ain't the best they've got, there are more sophisticated weapons in their Arsenal... 

Not long ago, it was reported that Lai Mohammed "issued ultimatum to Israel" for the release of Kanu.

With the executives undermining our Constitution at every turn and leaders of APC threatening the big guns; it is high time we woke up from our sleep and do better things instead of sitting on our hands.

We have to vote for the peace and "forward" movement of Nigeria.
