APC Youths Kick Against Tenure Elongation

By Ramjoe (M)March 11, 2018, 07:48:51 PM
The youth wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has kicked against tenure elongation for the state and national officials of the party.

The spokesman of the youths, Mathias Obekpa said this at a news conference in Abuja on Friday, calling on the National Executive Committee of the party to rescind its decision on tenure elongation.

The youths said it was wrong for the NEC to change the party’s constitution for selfish purposes as it called on all the youths to stand against, what it terms, “Impunity”.

The youth wing noted that it is only the national convention that has the legality to amend the party’s constitution but not the NEC.

Recalled that the NEC extended the tenure of the state and national officials by one more year, which is contrary to the four-year-tenure stipulated by the constitution at its last meeting in Abuja.

The national leader of the party, who is saddled with the reconciliation assignment, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had suggested that the Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun quit the seat.

Meanwhile, there is division in Lagos APC as a faction had gone against tenure elongation for the state and national officials of the party.

Just as in many fields/sectors in Nigeria where people do things just for the money... With little or no knowledge or passion for the 'job'...

Many politicians have no idea what constitution, law, formalities mean; they are just in for the money.

A big shame!
