The Nigerian Airforce has deployed helicopters to some parts of the Niger Delta Region, following the threat of the Niger Delta Avengers to resume bombing of oil facilities.
A source told our correspondent on Wednesday that two helicopters loaded with troops hovered round the Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom on Tuesday for about one hour.
The area, which is the home of the former leader of the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo was sent into a panic yesterday.

The residents, however, called on the Federal Government not to send troops to their community, saying they have been enjoying the peace and would not want any military incursion to breach it.
A military source confirmed the development, adding that troops had been deployed in creeks of Gbaramatu and the Escravos River to prevent the Niger Delta Avengers from carrying out their threat.
In his comment, the spokesman for the Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, said that no militants had invaded the community and there should be no reason for the government to deploy troops in the area.
‘We are not at war and don’t expect militarization of our community. The government should tell the soldiers to be cautious with the way they do things here,” he said.
