Police in Phoenix, Arizona, United States are investigating how a woman in coma for more than 14 years gave birth at Hacienda Healthcare, a nursing facility.

A local CBS News affiliate, Arizona’s Family, first reported the incident Thursday. According to their report, the victim, who remains unidentified, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Dec. 29.

A whistleblower, who remains anonymous, told the CBS News affiliate that none of the staff knew she was pregnant, thehill.comreported

“None of the staff were aware that she was pregnant until she was pretty much giving birth,” she said in a TV segment that disguised her voice and hid her face. “From what I’ve been told she was moaning. And they didn’t know what was wrong with her.”

In a statement, Hacienda HealthCare said it would also conduct an “internal review” to evaluate patient safety.

“As an organization, Hacienda HealthCare stands fully committed to getting to the truth of what, for us, represents an unprecedented matter,” spokeswoman Nancy Salmon told Arizona’s Family.

“We are already conducting a comprehensive internal review of our processes, protocols, and people to ensure that every single Hacienda resident is as safe and well cared for as possible. Anything less than that is unacceptable to our team, our company’s leaders and the communities we serve.”

The victim has reportedly been a patient at Hacienda HealthCare facility in Phoenix for at least a decade after nearly drowning and falling into a coma.

Male staff are no longer allowed in the rooms of female patients at the facility as the investigation is underway.

The Arizona Department of Health Services said in a statement that it is also helping with the investigation.

This is one of those bizarre stories that makes a statement about some inconvenient truths in this life.
There are so many fit and healthy couples out there DESPERATE to conceive a child, but fail and fail woefully.
But here is a woman in coma, and a victim of rape now, getting pregnant, uncared for throughout pregnancy, and still delivering a healthy baby boy.
Then of course there is the disturbing intrigue of the rapist that raped this woman in her helpless state.
This is not surprising because some man can rape corpses!
All these add up to a body of evidence that convinces me that the birth of a child, in this world, is not really dependent on only human wants. Whenever a child is destined to be born, that will be born regardless of circumstance of birth.
People should ponder on this and realize that it doesn't make sense to be desperate, to force God's hands in bringing a baby where he may not have destined it to be.
Meanwhile the criminal that impregnated this woman still must be found and jailed like the common rapist he is!
The child should be adopted by one of such couples desperate for a child if the woman has no family members.

It is a shocking story, no one knows what could have caused the pregnancy, was she pregnant before she went into coma? We have seen people in this part of the world that got pregnant and evil people made it impossible for them to experience child labour, some go on for several year until a divine power from a supreme being(God) delivers such woman after many years. So it is disturbing, one can't conclude until the result of investigation is made public.
