A middle-aged man has run amok in Benin City after reportedly embarking on a 14-day dry fast and prayers.

‎The man, whose identity could not be ascertained, was said to be returning from the church where he carried out the prayers and fasting when he started acting abnormally.

The man, said to be married with five children, reportedly demanded for a plate of fufu and meat, but started making incoherent statements, saying he wanted to kill himself.

Efforts by sympathizers to make the man go home was resisted as he rushed to lie down on the busy Upper Sokponba road.

The pastor of the church where the man allegedly undertook the fasting later came to the scene but declined to give his name, simply advising people gathered around the man to allow him rest and eat.

Commenting on the incident, a former member of the church who pleaded anonymity said she left the church because of the manner members were subjected to hunger in the name of fasting.

Only God knows what may have happened to this man.
Could hunger have cause this?
Methinks that maybe, just maybe, he used unconventional means to attempt to access power after his fast.
Fasting is not only for godly purposes; it can be used for non-Godly purposes, too.

Fasting is an important, but not THE ALL IMPORTANT ingredient for tapping into heavenly powers.
If your motives or goals are wrong, bad things can happen to you.
Fasting is also like salt. There is a "optimum quantity", and only you and God knows what that quantity is.

Dry fasting is particularly dangerous because it can mess up with the body's vital physiological processes.

Depending on what caused this, he may or may not recover from it.

People should be careful while conducting extreme prayer, because God is not deaf or dumb.
The Bible says so clearly.

I'd say that the first step to a successful and impactful prayer is serious self-examination.

I remember a story from my town many years ago when one man after fasting used one book called 'Six and seven books of Moses" to go to a graveyard to invoke "spirits". The story had it that he did this sometime in the night and was burnt to ashes on site.

If a person does not want to follow the simple principles of prayer laid down by Jesus, the person should be ready when demons answer his prayers.
A word is enough.

It is difficult to know the cause of this, God knows.
