A 35 years old man, Habeeb Kasali, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing a 32 year- old man, Bamidele Johnson, on the suspicion that the deceased was having “an affair” with his wife.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested following information received by the police at Igbesa Divisional headquarters from a relation of the deceased.

Confirming the incident, the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the relation informed the police that fight ensued between the suspect and the deceased at Totowu area when the suspect accused the deceased of having an affair with his wife despite several warnings.

“In the process, the suspect used scissors to stab the deceased severally on his chest, eye and neck which led to the death of the deceased”.

“He was immediately rushed to a hospital at Isuti road Egan in Lagos where he was confirmed dead.

“Having realized that the victim was dead, the suspect took to his heels, but the DPO Igbesa Divisional headquarters, SP Abayomi Adeniji, quickly despatched his detectives to go after him and was eventually arrested from where he ran to.

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at Ota General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.

Stories like this is fairly common these days, and makes no sense at all, and I shall prove it.

I keep warning men not to fight anyone for having affair with their wives, because the outcome is usually unpredictable.

Clearly, the outcome here was unpredictable, and is proven by the fact that this man ran away once the gravity of the situation dawned on him.
Why was he running after the death of his opponent?
He should have stayed if he had envisioned such outcome, and planned to accept it.

My argument remains that the only time it is okay to fight for a woman (or a man for that matter) is when the person is under threat of rape or assault, and only if the person is FAMILY.
All other situations are different.  :))

Why I say it is because this man's wife is NOT likely to continue in this marriage now that the man will be convicted of manslaughter. Unless the man's lawyer is able to prove that the dead man threatened his life in credible way. The dead man cannot speak for himself, so the state usually leans heavily on the living man than the dead one.

The wife will likely think that he has "blood on his hands" -a woman will remind you of such things till the end of your days particularly because you killed her lover. He will likely go to jail after being convicted of manslaughter.

Heck, if she was actually cheating on him when he was free and around, what makes him think that she will "close shop" and wait for his release from jail?

As a matter of fact, after he has been jailed, this wayward wife is likely to take her cheating to a higher level, while he languishes in jail.
And after he has been released from jail, the family of the deceased man may still go after him for vengeance.
Most a family may blame their sons for sleeping with a married woman, but they will still not forgive the man who killed their son.
In Igboland, they say that the "the day you will know that a mad person has family is the day you killed that mad person".  Yes, humans are that one-sided in judgment.

All these ain't worth it mehn!
If your wife is cheating on you, DIVORCE HER PRONTO, EVEN WITH MALICE!

That way, you can continue "jejely" with your life and she, hers.

You don't allow her adulterous life to ruin your normal life. You don't allow her waywardness to push you into committing murder or manslaughter.

It ain't worth it!
