The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, has said that seven out of the 13 patients on admission for the Monkeypox have fully recovered.
He said this Wednesday morning, adding that the remaining 6 were still at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri where they were being treated.

According to him, the seven patients have been discharged from the hospital while some were still under surveillance.
The contagious disease broke out three weeks ago in Agbura area of Yenagoa.
He noted that the government would ensure that the remaining six patients receive adequate treatment to recover fully from the infection.
“The government has been able to successfully contain the spread of the disease as no new case has been reported in the last few days,” he said.
He explained that with the dedication of medical personnel who had been on ground since the emergence of the scourge, the government was sure that Monkeypox would become a thing of the past soon.

Calling on residents to be more vigilant and report any symptom of monkeypox to the appropriate authorities, the commissioner commended the residents for their cooperation.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole over the outbreak of monkeypox in Bayelsa and some other states in Nigeria.
