Commonwealth Short Story Competition 2017

By naijarian (F)September 04, 2016, 07:41:38 PM
 ;D ;D why am I showing my 32???

I have a good feeling!!!

I have been trying to win this award for years now. I have two certificates of participation to show for my efforts though but I will still keep trying.
What an I rambling about?

It is the 2017 Commonwealth Short Story Prize!!
Oh yes!! It has begun again, the scramble for our creative juices to start flowing from our minds through our fingers.

If you don't know all about it, here is a few tit-bits about this competition.

As the name depicts, it is a competition for all writers from countries in the Commonwealth. There is a prize award attached to this award just to further encourage us to get better at what we do.

How best to imorove if not by a healyhy competituon and a platform that can help fosster our craft.

Insight:
A judge is chosen from each of the five Commonwealth regions (Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, the Caribbean and also the Pacific)
It should be noted that all entries will be according to each region. All the judges will however compile the best among the best and judge accordingly.
For the lucky winners of each region, a cash prize of £2,500 awaits them.
After which an overall winner will be chosen and he walks away with a whopping £5,000.

Stories written in Portugese, Samoan, Swahili and Bengali with no English translation are also given the chance to submit their stories in the original language. Ain't that cool? Equal opportunity, right?

Guidelines:
1) unpublished short fiction betwen 2,000 and 5,000 words.
2) It should be written in English language, if your script is not in English language, you'd have to submit a translated version of same.
3) Only open to citizens of a Commonwealth country.

So, that story that you have been itching to pen you are so sure has potential should come out now. Don't let your talent get locked up.

It is worth a try, I tell you.

So you can go ahead and submit your entries through this link

http://www.commonwealthwriters.org/submit-an-entry/

And please do this before the 1st day of November 2016, because that's the day the competition closes.

Good luck!!

Xoxo
